BC Women's and Children's Hospital I was 27 weeks pregnant to the day when in the middle of the night I woke up feeling something wet. I sat up, looked and it was bright red. Panic came over me. I woke up my husband and called our midwife who instructed us to meet her...

Ghost, Goblins and Hallowe’en Treats

Not all Hallowe’en treat have to be filled with food coloring and copious amounts of sugar. I know, I know, it's once a year and the sugar they consume isn't the end of the world. But there are a number of these “once a year” events and they add up. The thing with...

With Baseball season currently over… I decided to try something new. Can you tell I yearn for the batting cage? ⛳️🏌🏼‍♀️No lessons, no driving range sessions… just Jo and I trying not to get any balls in the bushes and equally trying to not get attacked by geese. I have to say: we both did a lot better than we thought we would, especially as the day went on. Also… can there be a 12-hole option? If you’re just here for a good time like we were, I would definitely recommend the Pitch and Putt at Stanley Park Vancouver Parks Golf and wrap up your session at Stanley Park Brewing just across the street for cold beverages and some delicious pizza. We tried a new thing, didn’t hit any geese, and we had a good time! Stay tuned for more of my golf journey, and if anyone has a recommended golf instructor in the Vancouver area, send me a message or tag them in the comments 💬🪿#stanleypark #pitchandputt #vancouver #golf ... For many families, traditional childcare schedules don’t align with real life. Camps start after the workday begins. Preschool programs run for only a few hours. Waitlists are long. And somehow parents are expected to make it all work. The result? More stress. More juggling. More mental load. That’s why @sunhouse.agency has structured their services and programs around the realities of modern family life. Their outdoor school follows a school-day schedule, and their agency provides before and after-care support to help fill in the gaps that parents face every day. My fellow professional parents in Vancouver: if you haven’t heard about what Nicole and April do at Sunhouse Academy, you need to check them out immediately! Especially if you missed summer camp sign up… in January 😂 Babysitting and nanny services: sunhousebabysitting.ca/ Summer camp information: sunhousebabysitting.ca/summer-camp @sunhouse.camps #thefounderchat #sunhouseagency #nannying #babysitting #workhours ... When spring arrives, you’ll usually find me in one of two places: travelling for work or at the ballpark ✈️🥎 I feel incredibly fortunate to be one of the coaches on my eldest’s Vancouver Minor Female Fastpitch team, a sport I’ve played and loved all my life. This group of young athletes has been playing and learning together for more than five years. Four or more times each week, fourteen U15 girls, coaches, and parents come together to support one another, develop new skills, build confidence, and create lasting friendships. As one of three U15C teams in Vancouver, it’s been rewarding to watch not only my team progress and grow throughout the season, but also to see the development of the other teams and the evolution of our own coaching approaches. Research consistently shows that girls who participate in sports develop higher levels of confidence, leadership skills, and perseverance. The impact extends far beyond competition. These early lessons help shape future leaders, professionals, and community builders. “94% of women in C-suite leadership positions played sports.” — Research highlighted by the Women’s Sports Foundation and EY. Some of the most rewarding experiences of my career have come from coaching female youth athletes. Sport teaches far more than technical skills. It teaches resilience, teamwork, leadership, discipline, and the confidence to take on challenges both on and off the field. As coaches, we have an incredible opportunity to help young girls discover what they are capable of. Every practice, every game, and every conversation can help build self-belief that lasts far beyond sport. As I load up the trunk for another tournament weekend, I’m grateful for the opportunity to play a small role in helping these young athletes grow, believe in themselves, and reach their potential.#youthsports #fastpitch #coaching #leadership #teamsports ...
