I have always had naturally low iron because I am not a big red meat eater. I love my mom’s iron product called Ironsmart which I take daily. This iron is non-constipating (no dark stools) and raises iron quickly. I use the liquid version and unlike other liquid iron supplements it doesn’t stain your teeth, and it tastes amazing. If you would rather have capsules, they are easy to swallow. I was taking 60 mg of elemental iron during my pregnancy and my bowels didn’t notice a bit.
